For the dough:

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp baking soda
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 cup plain yogurt
  • 2 tbsp oil
  • 1/2 cup warm milk or water (as needed)

For the filling and topping:

  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese (or mix with cheddar)
  • 2 tbsp minced garlic
  • 2 tbsp butter (melted)
  • 2 tbsp chopped cilantro or parsley

  3. Divide the dough into small balls, flatten each and place 1–2 tbsp cheese filling inside. Seal and roll gently into thick rounds.
  4. Brush with water on one side and place onto a hot tawa/skillet (wet side down). Cover and cook 2–3 minutes.
  5. Flip and cook the other side until golden spots appear. Optional: cook over direct flame for a tandoor effect.
  6. Brush with garlic butter and sprinkle fresh herbs. Serve hot!
